End of Month Report

Well the Brigade is nearly complete to start painting just awaiting on some command in frock coats to mix up the look in the Texan regiments.
Also received perry cavalry ok but would have preferred Dixon's but alas they are very nice sculpted but way to big to fit in along side foundry and perry mounted figures, but their artillery figures was to small to put them up against foundry's 12 pounder funny that.
So back to perry for so artillery crew.
I decided to use Dixon's mounted figures as divisional command as they look far better.
Looking forward to a week off so hopefully can start painting these figures and not the walls my good lady's wants lol..
see you next month

Brigade formation

A steady stream of figures has arrived at HQ Virginia
so far enough figures from foundry and perry for 3 regiments of 18 men
3 Arkansas
1 Texas
4 Texas
5 Texas
"Texas Brigade"
under the command of brigadier general Robertson it
was considered to be the shock troops of the army of northern Virginia
out of the 5,353 enlisted into the 3 Texan and Arkansas regiments throughout the war
only 617 men surrendered with general lee at Appomattox court house April 9th 1865

Choosing the right commander

Hell so many generals and brigade commanders to pick from. what a list of famous names
Longstreet, Hill,Jackson ,Johnson,Hood,Heth's Ewell and Pickett's and some not so famous like
Mclaw,Wheeler,Bragg,Anderson,Polk,Johnson finally Beauregard and to make choosing harder still so many confederate generals and Brigade commanders got killed or wounded .
in the 3 days of battle around Gettysburg alone 13 brigade commanders had been killed or captured or wounded.
However after great deal of thinking ive chosen
John Bell Hood's as my divisional commander with his Texas brigade under his command
now there's many a opinion on Hood but id like to agree that he was a fine brigade commander but unfit for tactics for higher command

The project begins

I jumped into this project with both feet due too always been a rebel at heart so the next task was to find the right figures to do the job thankfully the American civil war has been covered my many manufacturers so no problem in finding figures to start my confederate army
i will be using Foundry, Perry miniatures, crusader's and finally Dixon's to help complete the the feel
next major problem was choosing how big is this project going to be as i intend wargame with these figures when done ,so next task will be to order my copy of black powder I've heard they are very easy to understand and ideal for beginners like me.
